Aims of the Department

The P.E. department aims to deliver an outstanding education whereby the boys understand their anatomy, the physiology of the body, how the body moves biomechanically and how motor learning skills can be improved through different training methods. The boys are taught four different modules that cover a range of different types of sport, including invasion games, striking and fielding, gymnastics and swimming.

KS3 Units

Activities include:

  • Badminton
  • Basketball
  • Cricket
  • Fitness Training
  • Football
  • Gymnastics
  • Hockey
  • Induction Fitness Testing
  • Outdoor and Adventurous Activities
  • Rugby

P.E. lessons run for six weeks every half term and will cover the GCSE curriculum. All pupils will experience the different roles within sport: a player (of all positions), a coach, a manager, a referee, an event organiser, a cameraman and a commentator/pundit. The boys are assessed after the third week and sixth week of each unit. In order to make solid progress, boys analyse their performance after the first video assessment and use this information to improve their skill sets.
